GLS Investments, our parent company, operates over twenty restaurants which run radio and television promotions and include value-added participation from the media. With the broadcast background of Gene Smith, and retail expertise of Larry Selser, Total Media will match any agency in the Midwest for effective media buying and value added promotions.  We have considerable experience in cable buying and the advantage of very effective rates, enabling us to target our client’s customers. We can provide you with valuable positions in otherwise expensive advertising markets, such as Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Des Moines or Omaha.

Over the past 10 years, Total Media has conducted over thirty coupon promotions encompassing more than ten million coupons.  Redemption success ranged from one percent to twenty percent, representing hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales. This experience of couponing, along with tie-ins with such companies as Hardee’s, McDonalds, Hy-Vee, Casey’s General Stores, Nevada Bob's Golf and Maid Rite Restaurants, has provided Total Media with fantastic marketing opportunities. All promotions are designed to include value added space and time from local media. Our goal is to integrate our clients to increase the value of their advertising.

Total Media also operates a major travel incentive division, providing trips from Hawaii to New York.  We have provided complete travel arrangements for groups of 20 to 400 people, from 2-day get-aways to week-long conventions.  Our travel clients consist of radio and television stations, communications companies, and automotive dealerships. Gene Smith
With over 35 years experience in television broadcast, production, sales, and management, Gene Smith is the account supervisor, media specialist, and an owner of Total Media.  Gene served as Board Member and President of the Quad Cities Ad Club, Board Member and Vice President of the Quad Cities Grocers Manufacturers Rep Association, and Board Member and 1983 Chairman of the Quad Cities Open PGA Golf Tournament.

Larry Selser has been in the Advertsing Agency business for 20 years, buying, placing, marketing and promoting a wide range of services and industries.  He has also been involved in restaurant owning, operating and managing for 42 years.

Ty Thomson

Ty Thomson has been assistant to Mr. Smith for many years, working for him as Continuity Director  at WQAD-TV in the  1970’s and 1980’s.  For the past 8 years ,Ty has been assisting Gene as office administrator by copy writing, production arrangement, brochure and ad design, incentive group travel planning, client invoicing and as traffic coordinator.
